About the Grand Foundation

The Grand Foundation is a community-based non-profit organization supporting arts education and programming in Tracy and surrounding communities. Twenty years ago, the Arts Leadership Alliance (now the Grand Foundation) laid the groundwork for the concept of a community arts center, fostered community and government support, and led the bricks and mortar funding campaign for the design and building of the Grand Theatre Center for the Arts.

The renaissance of the Grand Theatre Center for the Arts began with the passion of two charter members of the Grand Foundation, Ann Langley and Cynthia Souza, and became a cause that was embraced by the entire community. The community donated more than one million dollars to help create the education and entertainment venue that is now attracting local, national, and international artists and exposing new generations of Tracy residents to the arts. The passion and vision of Tracy residents is now a beautiful reality that adds to Tracy’s culture, economy, and substantially increases their quality of life.

In collaboration with the City of Tracy, the Grand Foundation’s activities include supporting programs that foster the broadest possible public use of the cultural arts programs at the Grand Theatre Center for the Arts.

The Grand Foundation has provided programmatic and financial support to the Grand Theatre with annual underwriting contributions since its opening in 2007. Foundation underwriting continues to support concerts, exhibitions, classes, workshops and special events, in addition to providing arts supplies, art-making and technical equipment, and hospitality services.

In 2012, the Grand Foundation's Clyde Bland Endowment Fund was established through the Community Foundation of San Joaquin to promote the long term sustainability of the Grand Theatre Center for the Arts.
